Doctor Who Extract – Mise En Scene
The extract that I chose to deconstruct was from Doctor Who, when the Master attempting to change the world however he was stopped by the Arc Angel Network and the entirety of the Human race who chanted the word ‘Doctor’ to enable the release of David Tennant (Doctor Who).
I personally thought that this extract stresses Class and Status more so than any other, this is shown through all aspects of Mise En Scene. To start with, the costumes that were used emphasised many things:
· Power
· Dominance
· Weakness
· Working Classes
The use of location also had a significant effect to the sequence and this was because it set the scene and context of the program, episode and its conventions.
The added use of SFX to support the lighting of the scene also adds to the quality of visuals and audiences’ interpretation of what is happening in specific parts of the clip. Lighting is an incredibly important part of the cinematography aspect but also determines the mood of your shot.
