After reviewing our footage of our News short bulletin, we realised that there are several things that we could do to achieve a better quality of sound.
These are:
- Make sure the levels are slightly higher
- Monitor audio better using over ear headphones
- Use Clip on Mics to try and achieve a closer audio

Reviewing out footage
Inside - class room: We filmed a part of our news story in a class room at college. This went very well and we didn't experience any problems with filming in this location. The sound came out perfect and there was no visual problems with it either.
Outside - car park: For our news story we also filmed in a car park for the outside shots. We did experience some problems in this location as the car was facing the sun so the shadow of the camera and tripod on the bonnet of the car. The sound was fine in the car as well as we positioned the mic in the car.
Noisy - toilet: We also filmed in the college toilets for our news story. In this location the visuals were fine but we experienced problems with the audio. When we uploaded our footage the was no sound for this part of the news story.

Preparing to shoot on location
I think it is important to plan before shooting on location as you need to think of errors that could occur due to the location. This could be health and safety issues, weather problems and general obstacles.
Planning ahead rules out and/or helps to prevent anything from ruining your shoot.

This is an example of recorded audio within news reading.
Once listening to this through Headphones I found that their was a fair amount of background noise coming from the Male reporters report. It is not a lot of noise and most people would not notice it, however this could be resolved by adjusting the audio meters to its lowest point so not to pick up the noise but the dialogue. Another thing that could be done would be to make sure AGC (Automatic Gain Control) is off as this creates a lot of problems.
